Activites since leaving the hallowed halls:

Assistant band director at Western Kentucky University, 1975-1977 (received Master's in Music Ed 1977)

Band/choir director at Moore County, 1977-1981 (also p/t min/music at Lincoln Heights Baptist)

Band director at Glasgow High School, 1981-1983 (also p/t min/music at Calvary Baptist)

Attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 1983-1985 (received Master's in Christian Ed 1985)

Minister of Music and Education, Ridgeview Baptist, Chattanooga, 1985-1990

Minister of Music and Education, Signal Mountain Baptist, 1990-1992

Left Signal Mountain and moved to Louisville for Nina to attend seminary, 1992. Could not get full-time church job, so began teaching computers. Wound up starting own computer consulting business. Sold business to another company and went to work for them, then left there and went back out on my own as a computer trainer again. Co-wrote one book and contributed to another for Microsoft Press. Served two churches as p/t min/music as well (3 years at one, 5 at the other)

Humana, 2001 (one week after 9/11) to present

Recently left my last church position to spend more time writing, speaking, and doing workshops (on the side, in addition to my Humana gig)

Nina, meanwhile, got her Master's in 1995 and started her own counseling practice. She went on staff of Highlands Baptist (a moderate Baptist church) here in Louisville as a part-time staff member in 1997, and was soon called to serve there full-time. For the past five years she has been the associate pastor, and she does a terrific job. The people love her, and she is great at it. Sumner and Barbara would be proud.

Griffin has followed his art talent and does art glass for a local glass company. Benjamin plays piano and drums, and has been accepted into the Youth Performing Arts School here in Louisville (a big deal; pretty exclusive).
