Please give a brief synopsis of your activities since leaving Tennessee Tech; include degrees earned and additional educational endeavors, professional positions and activities; personal accomplishments; and, your current activities:

After leaving Tech in spring of 1984; I studied in London summer 1984, then graduated with MS in Communications from Morehead State University, KY in spring of 1987.

Summer 1986 and 87, worked at Glacier Bay Lodge, (Glaicer Bay National Park), Gustavus, AK.

In Fall 1987, I took a deckhand job aboard small passenger ships in SE Alaska. I tested for a Merchant Mariner Masters License in 1990. Sailed as 2nd officer and chief officer with Lindblad Expeditions from 1990-96.

In 1996, I attended Brian Utting School of Massage in Seattle (for a job to do on shore), then worked part time doing treatment massage for 4 years. The other part of the time I was conducting training for Lindblad Expeditions aboard the ships.

Married Andy in 1998, Henry was born in October of 2000. I stayed home with him, doing occasional training and oil spill response in the marine industry. In January 2004 I returned to work as an instructor of navigation for professional mariners at Crawford Nautical School.

I play living room guitar and lead a women’s singing group at my church. I facilitate new mom groups, am on the board of a non-profit and try to do fund raising and walks for breast cancer research.

We currently and in the past hike, camp, scuba dive, downhill ski and kayak.

Seattle is beautiful but everyone talks funny. I can’t live anywhere without the ocean nearby. My old b flat horn is still in my parents basement and I make noise to make my son laugh when we are home to visit. All I remember is a b flat scale.

Hope everyone is well!
