News and Events of MSO and UCIS

Fund raising for building a facility for conducting regular prayers and a Sunday school for children where they can learn and grow in Islamic values. Any amount of donation given for this cause is not little. Your generous donations is extremely important and can help us in planting a permanent seed of the tree of Islam in this community of Upper Cumberland.

Eid & Iftar Parties

For the Ramdaan of 2004, members of MSO & UCIS has again done a wonderful job, two iftar parties for all the members of MSO & UCIS were organized by different individuals as well as some personal iftar parties were organized between families. MSO has organized a potluck Eid party to celebrate the eid ul fitr festival in the community. Some snap shots from the event

Arabic Classes

Dear MSO members and friends, We are pleased to inform that MSO is offering Arabic learning classes free of charge. Br. Waseem has graciously agreed to teach all aspects of Arabic language including the grammmer. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who always had a desire to understand Quran in its real essence. For information about timings and venue please call 372-5900

EID Prayer and Party

MSO has arrangements for Eid prayer on campus in Roaden University Center (1000 N Dixie Ave), Room # 370. The takbeer will start at 8:00 a.m. We are planning to finish by 8:45 a.m

Please remember to mark your calendars for Eid-Party on Wednesday, Nov 26, 2003 from 4:30 at Multi-Purpose room, University Center. We are requesting everyone to get a food dish so that we can add a lot of variety and fun.

Iftars at MSO and UCIS

Alhamdulilla, The blessings and happiness of Ramadan has taken over the community very well. We are able to arrange for several Iftars through out the month. Various families and individuals has either already arranged for iftars or are going to do it in the remaining few days of this blessed month of Ramadaan.

Taraweh Prayers

MSO has arranged for all the daily Farz prayers and Taraweh prayers at Apt D-5-E tech village.    Br. Aqel Mohammad is leading the Taraweh prayer and he is planning to inshallah complete whole Quran recitation in the Taraweh. We have decided to have 20 rakah Taraweh each day. Please join us during this holy month of Ramadan to earn high rewards....... and also to increase our enthusiasm :-). 

 MSO also welcomes everyone to join us for Iftars. 

Ramadaan Schedule by MSO and UCIS

In a joint meeting by UCIS and MSO after friday prayer on 10/24/03, it is decided that the community in the region will follow ISNA for Ramadan. Please check ISNA for the moon sighting. 

The Islamic Shura Council of North America and the Fiqh Council of North America agreed that there were no confirmed moon sightings in North America on Saturday evening, October 25 th .
Therefore, we will complete 30 days in Sha'ban and Monday, October 27 th will be the first day of Ramadan.

Islamic Center for upper Cumberland region

MSO and UCIS is happy to inform you all that we have a new Islamic center for our region. It is located at located at 9888 Roberts Road, Silver Point, Tennessee 38582. This place is going to be used as an Islamic Sunday school and head office of Upper Cumberland Islamic Society. Regular prayers and Friday prayers will still be held at Apt # D-5-E, (Tech. Village Apt)  Please help us in maintaining these facilities by your generous donations.
